Nicole Kidman was the epitome of elegance and beauty at the grand opening of this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The star wore a stunning Christian Dior couture dress accessorized with pretty pink heels and a stylish hairstyle in a pony tail.

The award winning actress is a jury member at the festival and is set to play Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco in a biopic directed by Olivier Dahan who also directed the Oscar winning film La Vie En Rose. She is currently the face of the fall 2013 Jimmy Choo advertising campaign and was previously adored as the face for the Chanel No. 5 perfume.

The festival opened with a viewing of Baz Luhrmann’s much talked about film The Great Gatsby. Luhrmann directed the romantic musical Moulin Rouge which starred Kidman as the leading actress.

Vogue hosted some of the most creative, talented and innovative minds of the fashion industry who met up this past weekend to present talks, ideas and workshops on almost every aspect of the fashion industry. Editors, designers, stylists, models and bloggers discussed key issues affecting the fashion industry such as becoming a successful designer, model & buyer for fashion powerhouses, fashion journalism, photography, magazine design and online media.

Paul Smith, Alexa Chung and Michael Kors were leading day one of the fashion-packed schedule. On day two, Victoria Beckham, Mario Testino, Alber Elbaz and Donatella Versace all took to the hot seat, while David Gandy and Patsy Kensit debated body image in the fashion industry with Daisy Lowe and Christa D’Souza.  Visitors also enjoyed make-up tutorials by Chanel, Dior and YSL.

On the streets trends like wearing white as a foundation for outfits was popular, accentuated by pastel colours, burnt orange and prints in mostly jacket and pants combinations.

OnSaki will be at the V&A Waterfront to capture some of Cape Town’s trends.

Traffic held their fashion show at the trendy Shimmy Beach Club to showcase their new range. There was a cool vibe and guests were served champagne and sushi. The collection was edgy with studs and featured some of these season’s colour trends like the camo military print, white, lumo green and maroon. It was casual, daily wear that could be dressed up or down depending on which items you paired the clothing with. Guests enjoyed the after party and dessert treats after the show.
